![]() ![]() I think going too heavy or overfilling the forks could cause problems with seals (based on what I have hear and read to date). Replacing the 10w 20 that is in the bike with the same would be a big improvement, as the oil in it now is 5 years old.and has 27K on it. Can anyone out there recommend an equivalent oil or recommend an oil that will give a 200 lb rider (with riding gear), a slightly firmer ride on the original springs (which just have 27k on them). There are many good brands to choose from, but I cannot find the viscosity readings on the stuff Kawi actually put in the Connie so I don't have a good reference point to start from. ![]() I have heard 12.5wt, 15wt and as high as 20wt recommended with the OEM springs. So what would be the equivalent in a single grade oil at normal operating temperature? I am thinking 15 weight (about midway between the 10w-20), as I want to firm mine up a little. From what I can gather, Kawasaki 10W-20 still referenced in the manuals is no longer available (maybe Kawi has a stockpile they are not sharing!!?). But no one can tell me what Kawasaki actually put into the forks on the 2005 Connie. Found some excellent references and links which get into the properties of various brands. It appears that all fork oils are not created equal.viscosity ratings and performance vary greatly from one brand to the next.
